one year of the dainty squid

Today marks one year since I reopened The Dainty Squid shop!

Looking back, I kind of feel like my reopening of the shop was a spur of the moment decision. It just took one email and all of a sudden I’m buying the supplies. (You can read that story here.) I went full force right from the beginning.

Sometimes spur of the moment decisions are the best though, I guess! It’s been an excellent year of creating.

In the past year, I’ve made oodles of items, gone through yards and yards of fabric, sold over 1400 things and shipped all packages all over the world. The response well surpassed my expectations. I smashed every single goal I made regarding the shop.

Keeping the shop stocked up, and full of new items has been a lot of work. The blog had to take a bit of a back seat for me to be able to keep up with it all but it really worked out perfectly. The loss of my mom made me want to withdraw from writing and sharing for the most part. Being able to lean into sewing was an excellent change of pace. There were a lot of late nights spent cutting fabric, ironing and just working on the shop that felt very therapeutic. I could zone out and just be productive without having to think of how I was feeling.

Reopening The Dainty Squid shop was exactly what I needed.

So, thank you! Thank you so much for every kind word about my products, every like, every share, and of course, every purchase! It’s been such a pleasure. I enjoy packing every single order. I’m just tickled pink that folks spend their hard-earned money on things that I make. It’s the best feeling.

To celebrate one year back in business, two things are happening. 1 – Massive shop update today. I listed over 60+ brand new items. Lots of new fabrics and most excitingly, boxy bags are back. 2 – Sale! Sale! Sale! There are tons of markdowns and a lot of those are on fabrics that won’t be coming back once they’re gone so don’t miss out.

Thank you again for an awesome year! I can’t wait to see what I get into in my second year. xoxo
